Service Description
The Instinct Lab is a professional clown and physical theatre workshop for performers who feel stuck in their head and want to build a stronger connection to their body, instincts, and stage presence. Most performers aren’t lacking skill—they’re overthinking. They hesitate before making a choice, second-guess their impulses, or default to safe, controlled performances. This work is about interrupting that pattern. In this workshop, we shift from analysis to action. Through structured, play-based exercises, you’ll explore how to make bold physical choices, respond in the moment, and connect character to your body. Rooted in clown and physical theatre, the training is designed for actors, improvisers, dancers, and creators who want to develop greater responsiveness, freedom, and presence in their work. You’ll train your ability to: act on impulse instead of overthinking take risks without fear of “doing it wrong” expand your physical range and expressiveness recover quickly when things fall apart stay present and responsive in front of an audience The environment is focused, supportive, and intentionally designed to help you take real risks without pressure to be perfect. This is a space where failure is not only allowed—it’s useful. Often, it’s where the most honest and compelling work begins. Led by a touring performer, director, and mentor, The Instinct Lab bridges the gap between training and real-world performance. The tools you develop here translate directly into rehearsal rooms, live performance, and devised creation. Whether you’re looking to unlock more expressive work, build confidence in your physical choices, or simply feel more alive on stage, this workshop offers a clear, practical path forward.
